Ivano-Frankivsk region
Landscapes and panoramas of unspoilt nature that astound you. Extensive montane meadows where flocks of sheep graze, and mountains which not everyone can conquer. The park is located in the wooded part of the Pokuty-Bukovyna Carpathians, and forests are one of its greatest and most valuable treasures. Virgin and old age forests are especially valuable. These forests are inhabited by deer, roe deer, wild boar, and occasionally by brown bears, lynxes, and wildcats. 999 species of mushrooms and mushroom-like organisms were found in the park, 19 of which are listed in the Red Book of rare species of Ukraine. The park personnel perform a unique re-situ technique which makes it possible to grow rare mushrooms in the wild.
The territory of the park is also dotted with numerous rivers and streams. The largest of them are Liuchka, Pistynka, Rybnytsia, Cheremosh, which are the right tributaries of the Prut River. In the mountainous area and at the exit from the mountains, the rivers form rifts, reaches, waterfalls, which the locals call “hooks” because of the roar and noise they cause.
