Ivano-Frankivsk region
A network of travel routes is being developed here, already extending to 140 kilometres, so that the traveller can spend time here safely and informatively, without harming the local flora and fauna. Trips of different complexity levels, taking you through the montane meadows to the rocky hills, will help you enjoy the panoramic view and at the same time see the five highest peaks of Ukraine.
Here, in the natural environment one can (but you had better not) meet a brown bear (Ursus arctos) and a wolf (Canis lupus). The fire salamander (Salamandra salamandra), the golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos), Lynx and the black stork (Ciconia nigra) are under special protection. All Carpathian Mountains lovers are certainly familiar with the Rhododéndron myrtifólium (generally known as “chervona ruta”); apart from it, another 80 plants are listed in the Red Book of rare species of Ukraine.
This is more than the territory of such European countries as Malta, Liechtenstein and San Marino put together.
