Lviv region
The greatest treasure of the park is the age-old forests that grow and change without any human influence.
Tourists will be enchanted by the alpine lake Zhuravlyne, the waters of which reflect the beauty of the surrounding environment. Here you will see the round-leaved sundew (Drosera rotundifolia) – a unique plant that feeds on insects. You can also admire the beauty of rivers and waterfalls.
Visitors will be surprised by the unique raised swamp “Selyshcha”, the only place in the park where blueberries grow naturally. A total of 41 rare species of plants have been registered in the park. Among them – the perennial honesty (Lunaria rediviva), the lesser butterfly-orchid (Platanthera bifolia), Gladiolus imbricatus, and the martagon lily (Lilium martagon).
There are 67 species of animals under special protection in the Skole Beskids. The local forests belong to the brown bear (Ursus arctos), the red deer (Cervus elaphus), the lynx, and the wildcat (Felis silvestris).
The park is also restoring the population of the European bison (Bison bonasus). Over the decades, 10 animals brought from Germany have adapted to local conditions, and now there are already 37 bison in the herd.
